Queen Victoria's Wedding Dress Rendering

Description supplied by the film's costume designer Sandy Powell:

This dress is closely based on the original wedding dress which I was able to see at Kensington Palace. The fabrics we used weren't as fine as the original dress and it took a long time to find a contemporary lace that was a good enough match to the original. Unfortunately the dress is seen only fleetingly in the film.

Costume Descriptions: Prince Albert's Wedding Coat from The Young Victoria Costume Exhibit, Sydney, Australia

Queen Victoria's Costume: An ivory duchess silk satin dress with antique lace detail and an ivory silk satin train with silk flowers sewn on. Completed with an antique cream silk lace veil. St. George's collar chain, antique crystal necklace and large paste broach with a sapphire-colored stone. Filmed at St. James Church.

Prince Albert's Costume: A striking red wool and gold embroidered tailcoat with cream silk lining featuring a black wool stand-up collar and gold buttons. Worn with cream silk ribbons and bows (on epaulets) as well as an ornate crystal breast star.
