Fashion Date: Circa 1886-1889

Hairstyle Description: Both girls have the top of their hair pulled back and secured just beneath the crown of the head. The blonde has a dark bow in the secured area. Both girls have straight fine hair. The older girl's hair shows signs of previous braiding.

Costume Description: Older girl has on a plaid dress with a natural waistline, bloused front and 3/4 length sleeves. It is accented with a contrasting braid on the skirt and overskirt and a lace collar. The younger girl has a dark colored dress that buttons down the front and features a drop-waist pleated skirt and is accented with velvet strips applied at the drop waist, the cuffs, and in two strips running vertically down the front of the dress.
