The photo above was in very poor condition and extremely faded. After careful work we restored the image of this beautiful little girl named Susie Badger. It is very rewarding to bring Susie's childhood photo back to its original coloring. This photo is very special to me because Susie looks a lot like my little sister Della with long golden hair.

Fashion Date:Circa 1893-1897

Costume Description: Susie's "empire styled" costume or "yoke dress" is hanging from a square yoke and made in a delicate fabric (likely cotton batiste or muslin). It is trimmed with lace. There are a dozen similar examples in a 1897 Butterick catalog, made with both long, and three quarter length sleeves as shown. She is wearing a pendant necklace. Her wide-brim straw hat is accented with daisies or Brown-Eyed Susans.

Hairstyle Description: Susie's hair is golden and waist length. It is pulled up from the frontal sides and pulled to the back of her head. Interesting enough, she has a curl just above each temple. Her hair does not appear to have been braided prior to this photo session.
