CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:

 1889-1958: Lelong's lifetime.

 1911-1913: Trained for business at Hautes Etudes des Commerciales, Paris, France.

 1914: Lelong had his first fashion collection this year but it was postponed because of World War I.

 One of the first designers to have lingerie and stockings in their collection.

 1934: Introduced a line of ready-to-wear (RTO).

 1937-1947: President of the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture.

 1939: Introduced a clinched waist and full skirt just before the beginning of World War II. This became Dior's New Look in 1946. After the war, Lelong designed pencil-thin skirts.
