CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:
Inherited a lingerie shop from his grandparents before 20 years old.
1875: Opened his couture house for evening gowns, tea gowns, suits, and coats. Doucet is most known for his evening gowns.
Clients: Miss Marchelle Praince, Mme. Cora Laparcerie, socialites, actresses, and royalty.
In 1896-1900, Paul Poiret designed for the House of Doucet. When Poiret opened his own couture house, Doucet gave him support by sending Poiret the famous actress, Rejane, for a client.
His design inspiration was 17th-18th Century paintings.
After Doucet's death, the business merged with the House of Doeuillet.
